The foundation of NV Transport dates back to the early 1990s, following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Fleeing religious persecution and political instability, our founders arrived in the United States as refugees in search of the "American Dream."

The journey began on February 20, 1990, with the arrival of Valery Shkurinsky. Driven by a deep sense of purpose, he became the principal founder of the charitable organization Emmanuel Mercy Mission, officially established in August 1992. Soon after, his brother, Nikolay Shkurinskiy, also arrived in the United States and immediately joined the mission. Prior to their arrival, their sister, Nadezhda, had already established herself in the country. Armed with nothing but hope and unwavering determination, the siblings sought to build a better and safer life for their families.

With the robust support of local communities, they successfully coordinated the shipment of more than 250 containers of humanitarian aid - including food, clothing, and essential supplies - to the former republics of the USSR. As the volume of these container shipments grew, it became critical to transport donations from various states to their main warehouse in Portland, Oregon.

This pressing logistical need sparked a defining idea: to purchase a commercial truck that could simultaneously haul humanitarian cargo and support their large families. The brothers decided to launch an independent commercial trucking venture. In 1993, they secured a loan to purchase their first Freightliner truck and founded their first commercial company-Continental Express of Oregon-operating as a strictly separate enterprise, both legally and financially, from their non-profit activities.

The brothers ran cross-country routes from the West Coast to the East Coast, carefully collecting donations across many states. To offset fuel costs and overhead on the return trips, Nadezhda skillfully coordinated and dispatched commercial freight loads. What began as a dedicated family effort quickly evolved into a highly viable business opportunity.

As the operation expanded, this rich logistics expertise culminated in the company’s official reorganization and registration in 2002 as NV Transport Inc. The company’s name proudly incorporates the first letters of its founders’ names - Nikolai (N) and Valeriy (V) - and continues to operate as a fully independent, premier commercial transportation provider.

Today, NV Transport continues to thrive by bridging our deep family heritage with a modern, high-tech fleet. Our foundation is built on honesty, integrity, and hard work, making our organization a strong, asset-based commercial player in the North American logistics market.
